We leave  8 am and first have breakfast.  It is another nice and sunny day. Puffy white clouds drift on the horizon.  We cross the river and follow a trail up the side of Portomarin through pine forests.  The trail then follows by the side of the road for about 8 kms or 2 hours until Gonzar where we have a sporstsdrink.  Here we see Lee and Holly, a nice British couple we have encountered several times on the way.
The Camino passes by the side of a country road until Ligonde where we stop for a caldo gallego and bocadillo lunch at 1 pm.  At 3 pm, we reach Palas  del Rey and have a cafe cortado.
We pass Airexe right after and then San Xulian by 4:30 pm.  Here I see Sharon and Paul with whom I had walked with back in Roncesvalles.  Farther on is Casanova which we reach at 5:30 pm then finally Melide by 7 pm. We go directly to Pulperia Garnacha and have a pulpo (octopus,  their specialty),  one steak dish each, fried peppers and a beer to replenish our used up reserves.  Wonderful food!!!
Later, fortified with that great dinner, we search for the municipal albergue.  We ask around, make a few wrong turns until we finally find it. It is very nice, comfortable and warm.
